- NEWLY-RELEASED
- Paddy Casey’s third studio album, Addicted to Company (Part I), was recorded in Los Angeles, CA, and is being backed by Sony/RED (he was tracked down after a Sony scout heard him busking on Grafton Street). This is his follow up to his hugely successful Living, which went 11-times Platinum in Ireland. Addicted to Company (Part I) was released in Ireland in September of 2007, to favorable critical buzz, and was just awarded a Meteor Award for “Best Irish Album.” A US release is scheduled for April 1, 2008 Preorders are available through Amazon, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, and most major media outlets.
- Danny Darcy just released his debut CD, Building Churches. The entire project is Internet-based and self-financed. It is availble through the Irish-based site, www.cdworld.ie and all sales are reflected on the Irish charts. A sample of this new music from Danny Darcy was featured on the February 12, 2008, broadcast of Paddy-Whacked Radio™ FM.
- FUNZO, winner of the 2007 Trinity College Battle of the Bands, has released their fourth EP, No Smiling ‘Til Christmas, which can be purchased by contacting them through their MySpace.
- LikeKings’s self-titled EP is now available to buy in MOJOS, Merchants Arch, Temple Bar (just beside the Ha’penny Bridge) and METRO MUSIC in Rathfarnham Shopping Centre €5.
- Ro Tierney’s Tics and Politics features his new single “Sticks and Stones” and is available at shows or through rotierney.com as a CD (€9.99) or digital download (€4.99).
- FUTURE RELEASES
- FEBRUARY 24, 2008 Ray Heffernan launches his new CD/DVD , In My Own Time — recorded over three years in five countries and six languages — at Bewley’s Café Theatre in Dublin. Ciaran Flynn is playing as support. €20. A copy of In My Own Time is included in admission.
- FEBRUARY 28, 2008 Eleanor McEvoy kicks off her Australian tour in Kulcha, Fremantle, WA, and her new CD, Love Must Be Tough will be released exclusively in Australia at this time.
- FEBRUARY 29, 2008 Seachtain na Gaeilge is a non-profit organization which works to promote the Irish language and holds a two-week festival annually at the beginning of March. Beginning in 2005, a CD was compiled of songs either in their original Gaelic or translated into Gaelic by well-known Irish musicians. Past contributors include Paddy Casey, Mundy, The Frames, Andrea Corr, Bell X1, Damien Dempsey, and Declan O’Rourke.
This Leap Day celebrates the launch of Ceol ‘08, the compilation CD with contributions from sixteen Irish musical acts, proceeds from which will be donated to Barnardos charity, who work to improve the lives of disadvantaged children in Ireland. This years lineup includes: Mundy, Dave Geraghty, Luan Parle, Jack L, Delorentos, The Walls, The Coronas, Wallis Bird, Dingle White Females, Gavin Glass, Tadgh Cooke, The Guggenheim Grotto, and Slide. Also appearing on this year’s compilation are Declan O’Rourke , Fiach, and Lir, who with along with Rinceoirí Gaelacha Bastable Warren and Rincedance, will perform in County Hall, Tallaght on the 6th March from 19:00.
